Background: MIS RII
Müllerian inhibiting substance receptor II (MIS RII) is a type II TGF-beta superfamily receptor that forms a heteromeric complex with various type I receptors to mediate MIS signaling. Mature MIS RII has a cysteine-rich, glycosylated, extracellular domain, and a cytoplasmic region containing a serine/threonine kinase domain. Rat MIS RII shares 95% and 82% aa sequence identity with its mouse and human orthologs, respectively. Embryonically, it is expressed in mesenchymal cells surrounding the Müllerian ducts. Postnatally, it is expressed in uterine tissues and Leydig cells, showing coexpression with MIS in the testicular Sertoli and ovarian granulosa cells.
