September 2017 Go Everywhere with Bio-Techne Travel Grant Awarded to Medical Biologist at Linköping University!

Bio-Techne launched its Go Everywhere Travel Grant Program which awards $1000 USD (or equivalent) to 1 researcher each month to attend the meeting of their choice. This grant program allows the researcher to attend more targeted meetings in their field and provides funding to support both small and large scientific associations that promote discovery and collaboration.

Helena Enocsson, a Medical Biologist from Linköping University is the September recipient of the Bio-Techne Go Everywhere Travel Grant in 2017

Helena has selected to attend the American College of Rheumatology’s Annual Meeting (ACR/ARHP) in San Diego, CA USA in November 2017.

Helena has worked in her laboratory for 10 years and her research now focuses on biomarkers for organ damage in systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. By evaluating potential biomarkers and clarifying their role in the pathogenesis of these diseases, her hope is to facilitate appropriate and timely treatment of patients.

The primary techniques used in the research that she plans to present at the meeting in November are ELISAs and multiplex bead assays, including detection of soluble urokinase plasminogen receptor (suPAR) with the R&D Systems DuoSet® ELISA Kit.

Helena will be presenting a poster at the meeting titled: Soluble Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Receptor (suPAR) Correlates with Disease Activity in Early Rheumatoid Arthritis and Reflects Joint Damage over Time (abstract ID: 66891). If you plan to attend the ACR Annual Meeting, be sure to check it out on Sunday, November 5th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.

When asked how this grant will help her, Helena said:

“I’m very grateful for the grant which will give me the opportunity to extend my conference visit to include a pre-course entitled Interface of Innate & Adaptive Immunity in the Rheumatic Diseases.”

Bio-Techne and our brands are proud to support Helena’s work and the work of many of the researchers that have applied to our travel grants so far this year. If you are interested in applying to any of our travel grants, please go to www.rndsystems.com/travel.
