Human IFN-Alpha 2 High Sensitivity Quantikine Kit Spiked Linearity IFN-Alpha 2 is spiked at high concentration in various matrices and diluted with appropriate Calibrator Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay. The linearity is between 87%-112% for Heparin Plasma, 97%-114% for EDTA Plasma, and 94%-111% for Serum.

Background: IFN-alpha 2/IFNA2
Interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha), also known as leukocyte interferon, represents a group of related but distinct proteins that share over 95% amino acid sequence homology. They are members of the type I interferon family which share a common cell surface receptor composed of two subunits, a 100 kDa ligand-binding subunit (IFN-alpha R2) and a 125 kDa ligand binding and signal transduction subunit (IFN-alpha R1) that is involved both in ligand binding and signal transduction. IFN-alpha has both anti-viral and immunomodulatory activities on target cells.

Assay Diluent RD1-63 contains visible precipitate. Is this acceptable to use?
A small amount of precipitate is expected and acceptable in Assay Diluent RD1-63. Variability has been observed between vials and diluent lots. It may not fully resolubilize but this will not impact assay performance. It is not recommended to filter the precipitate.
