Background: TR2/NR2C1
Human Testicular Receptor 2 (TR2, TR2-11; NR2C1) is a 67 - 70 kDa, 603 amino acid member of the NR2 subfamily of the Nuclear Hormone Receptor superfamily. It is expressed in prostate and testis, forms homodimers with itself, and heterodimers with TR4. In addition to TR2-11, there are three other isoforms. All exhibit a DNA binding domain (DBD) (amino acids 111 - 179) and a variable length ligand binding domain (LBD) (amino acids 261 – 603). TR2-7 is truncated at 184 amino acids in length, with amino acids 1 - 181 showing complete identity to TR2-11. There is no LBD. TR2-9 is 467 amino acids in length and is identical to TR2-11 over amino acids 1 – 464. TR2-5 is 483 amino acids in length and identical to TR2-11 over amino acids 1 - 466. Their significance is unclear.
