Background: MIS/AMH

MIS, also known as anti-Müllarian hormone (AMH), belongs to the TGF-beta superfamily. It is produced by the fetal testis and plays a central role in male sex differentiation. Postnatally, MIS is expressed in both the testis and the ovary, where it also has a regulatory role in gonadal functions.

Entrez Gene IDs
268 (Human); 11705 (Mouse)
Alternate Names
AMH; MIF; MIS; Muellerian hormone; muellerian-inhibiting factor; muellerian-inhibiting substance; Mullerian hormone; Mullerian inhibiting factor; Mullerian inhibiting substance
