Biological Activity

RADA is an orange-red TAMRA-based fluorescent D-amino acid. Suitable for labeling peptidoglycans in live bacteria. Incorporated into bacterial cell walls during synthesis. Suitable for prolonged exposure due to red-shift photophysical properties. Suitable for dSTORM and reSTORM. Displays good water solubility, photostability and thermostability. Excitation/emission λ ~554/580 nm.

This product is supplied as a TFA salt, the stoichiometry of which is batch dependant. Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis to obtain the batch specific Net Product Content.

Fluorescence Imaging Application of RADA View Larger

Application of RADA. Using FDAAs RADA and HADA (Catalog # 6647) to study peptidoglycan enzyme and substrate distribution, and the role of polar cell growth and peptidoglycan segregation over time. Image shows peptidoglycan segregation over time. Left to right - 2 mins HADA pulse (cyan), 45 min outgrowth, followed by 2 min RADA chase (magenta) in WT Msm cells. New cell wall (magenta), oldest cell wall (cyan). Scale: 5 μm.
