Neurotransmitter Systems in Alzheimer's Disease

Multiple neurotransmitter systems have been shown to be involved in the development and progression of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The cholinergic, glutamatergic, and serotonergic systems play important roles in learning and memory, thus, it is believed that decreased function of these systems is responsible for the cognitive decline seen in individuals with AD. R&D Systems offers a range of research tools needed for investigating the role of different neurotransmitter systems in AD.
