Galectin‑9 in U937 Human Cell Line. Galectin‑9 was detected in immersion fixed U937 human histiocytic lymphoma cell line using Goat Anti-Human Galectin‑9 Biotinylated Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # BAF2045) at 15 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights™ 557-conjugated Streptavidin (red; NL999) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm. Staining was performed using our protocol for Fluorescent ICC Staining of Non-adherent Cells.

Background: Galectin-9

Galectin-9 (also known as Ecalectin and UAT) is a 40 kDa beta -galactoside binding lectin that belongs to a tandem repeat group of Galectins. Activated cells such as T cells, PMNs, astrocytes, fibroblasts and endothelial cells can express Galectin-9, but its release requires select MMPs. Human to mouse, there is 69% aa sequence identity for Galectin-9.
