Carrier Free
CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins. Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Background: CD300c2
Leukocyte mono-Ig-like receptor 2 (LMIR2), also known as CMRF-35A, CD300c2, CLM4, DIgR1, and MAIR-II, is a 35 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the immunoregulatory signaling (IRS) family of immunoglobulin-like molecules (1). Mature mouse LMIR2 consists of a 165 amino acid (aa) extracellular domain (ECD) with one Ig-like domain, a 21 aa transmembrane segment, and a 20 aa cytoplasmic tail (2). An alternate splice form lacks two amino acids C-terminal to the Ig-like domain (3). Within the ECD, mouse LMIR2 shares 45% aa sequence identity with human LMIR2. The CMRF-35 antibody detects both LMIR2 and LMIR1/CMRF-35H which are 92% identical in their Ig-like domains (4-7). LMIR2 is expressed on the surface of subpopulations of bone marrow derived dendritic cells and mast cells, monocytes, peritoneal macrophages, marginal zone B cells, and T cells (2, 3, 6, 8). It contains at least one positively charged amino acid in its transmembrane segment which may mediate LMIR2 association with the adaptor signaling proteins DAP10, DAP12, and FcR gamma (3, 8). Cross-linking of LMIR2 on macrophages induces the secretion of the proinflammatory molecules TNF-alpha, IL-6, and CCL2 (3).
