Acridonylalanine New
Chemical Name: Sodium 2-Amino-3-(9-oxo-9,10-dihydroacridin-2-yl)propanoate
Purity: ≥95%
Biological Activity
Key information: Acridonylalanine is a fluorescent unnatural amino acid. Can be used to specifically label a protein of interest during protein translation. Suitable for lifetime and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) studies.Used for: labeling proteins, monitoring protein interactions and conformational changes through fluorescence polarization or lifetime experiments.
Application: fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), FRET interactions with common fluorophores such as methoxycoumarin.
Properties and Photophysical Data: highly photostable, high quantum yield and long fluorescence lifetime in water. Excitation and emission maxima (λ) are 385 nm and 420 nm, respectively.
Scientific Data

Source material comparison. Left three bars show the fluorescence intensity of Acridonylalanine (Acd) in GFP protein (incorporated by genetic code expansion at position 151). The source of Acd material originates from either the laboratories of Professor E. James Peterson (EJP) or of Tocris / Bio-Techne (BT). Results are an average of 3 protein expressions in E. coli. The protein without Acd incorporation is included as a negative control. Right three bars: WT GFP expression to determine whether there are any growth effects from Acd in the presence of EJP or BT synthesized Acd.
