5-HT1D in Human Brain. 5-HT1D was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human brain (substantia nigra) using Mouse Anti-Human 5-HT1D Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB10354) at 5 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Mouse IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (VC001). Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (CTS013). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to neuronal processes. Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using VisUCyte Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (Catalog # VCTS021). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm in neurons. Background: 5-HT1D

Human 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1D, or 5-HT1D, is a G-protein coupled receptor for serotonin. 5-HT1D also functions as a receptor for ergot alkaloid derivatives, various anxiolytic and antidepressant drugs and other psychoactive substances. Ligand binding causes a conformation changes in a typical G-protein/adenylate cyclase fashion.
