Scientific Data
ABCA13 in Human Hippocampus. ABCA13 was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human brain hippocampus using Rabbit Anti-Human ABCA13 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB11195) at 3 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Rabbit IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (VC003). Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (CTS013). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to lymphocytes in germinal centers. Staining was performed using our protocol for IHC Staining with VisUCyte HRP Polymer Detection Reagents.

Background: ABCA13
ATP-binding cassette sub-family A member 13, also known as ABCA13, is a protein that belongs to the ATP-binding cassette family of transporter proteins, a large family with at least 48 members and 7 gene subfamilies. Human ABCA13 is one of the largest known ABC transportes with 12 or more transmembrane alpha-helix domains that likely arrange to form a single central chamber with multiple substrate binding sites. Human ABCA13 has been shown to be associated with psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
