Background: TAPP1
TAPP1, gene name PLEKHA1 (pleckstrin homology family A, member 1) is a 70‑75 kDa cytoplasmic adaptor protein that is membrane-associated after binding of the phosphoinositide, PtdIns(3,4)P2. The 404 aa human TAPP1 shares 76% aa identity with mouse TAPP1. It is expressed most highly in skeletal muscle, spleen, lung, thymus and placenta. TAPP1 interacts with cytoskeletal syntrophins, colocalizing in membrane ruffles following PDGF treatment in transfected NIH‑3T3 cells. TAPP1 and the related TAPP2 appear to play a role in B and T cell activation.
