When 1 x 105 cells/well are added to Recombinant Human Protocadherin-10 coated plates, cell adhesion is enhanced in a dose dependent manner. The ED50 for this effect is 0.6-2.4 μg/mL.

Carrier Free
CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins. Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Background: Protocadherin-10
Protocadherin 10 (PCDH10; previously OL-PCDH in mouse) is a 140 kDa protein belonging to the δ2 subgroup of protocadherins, type I transmembrane proteins that exhibit calcium-dependent but relatively weak homophilic adhesion (1, 2). Like other δ2 protocadherins, PCDH10 cDNA encodes a signal sequence (amino acids (aa) 1 ‑ 18), six cadherin domains of about 100 aa each (aa 19 ‑ 715), a transmembrane sequence (aa 716 ‑ 736), and a cytoplasmic domain (aa 737 ‑ 1040) (1). Typical of protocadherins, human PCDH10 has an alternately spliced 896 aa form that diverges at aa 878 within the C-terminal cytoplasmic domain (1). Within the extracellular domain, human PCDH10 shares 98% and 99% aa sequence identity with mouse and bovine PCDH10, respectively. PCDH10 is widely expressed, but especially prominent in discrete sections of the brain such as striatal axons in the developing ventral telencephalon and thalamocortical projections, cerebellum, visual, olfactory and limbic system neurons, and is most strongly expressed in synapse-rich regions (1 ‑ 3). It is postulated to play a role in elongation of striatal axons and neural circuit formation in the ventral telencephalon (1 ‑ 4). In many carcinomas and lymphomas, the gene is silenced by methylation (5 ‑ 8). Ectopic PCDH10 expression suppresses tumor cell growth, migration and invasion in vitro while promoting apoptosis (5, 8).
