Carrier Free
CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins. Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Scientific Data
Recombinant Human VSIG10L Fc Chimera (Catalog # 9600-VS) inhibits IFN-gamma secretion by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells in the presence of anti-CD3 antibody. The ED50 for this effect is 1-6 μg/mL.

Background: VSIG10L
V-set and immunoglobulin domain-containing protein 10-like (VSIG-10L) is an 840 amino acid (aa) single-pass type I membrane protein of the Ig superfamily. The protein consists of a 749 aa extracellular domain (ECD), a 21 aa helical transmembrane domain, and a 70 aa cytoplasmic domain. The ECD of VSIG-10L contains both an Ig-like C2-type 1 domain and an Ig-like C2-type 2 domain. The ECD of mature human VSIG-10L shares 95%, 75%, and 74% identity with Rhesus macaque, mouse, and rat, respectively. The specific biological function of VSIG-10L has yet to be elucidated, but there is evidence to suggest the molecule is involved in cell‑cell adhesion. Ig-like C2-type domains are similar to antibody constant domains and can be found in T cell adhesion molecules, such as Cluster of Differentiation 2 (CD2) along with vascular and intercellular cell adhesion molecules (VCAM and ICAM, respectively) (1). VSIG-10L is highly expressed in healthy esophagus with squamous mucosa (2). Down‑regulation of the protein may be linked to familial Barrett's esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma (2) while up‑regulation may be linked to lung squamous cell carcinoma (3). R&D in house data indicate that VSIG-10L inhibits the secretion of IFN-g from anti-CD3 activated human PBMCs.
