Carrier Free
CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins. Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Background: TLR7
TLR7 (Toll-like receptor 7) is a member of the Toll-like receptor family of innate immune receptors. It is mainly expressed in lung, placenta and spleen and belongs to a new sub-family of the TLRs comprising of TLR7, TLR8, an TLR9 (1, 2). Mouse TLR7 cDNA encodes a 1050 amino acid (aa) precursor that contains a 26 aa signal sequence, an 811 aa extracellular domain (ECD), a 21 aa transmembrane sequence, and a 192 aa cytoplasmic domain. Mouse TLR7 is 81% aa identical to mature human TLR7. TLR7 is located in the endosomes and involved in the sequence-dependent sensing of single-stranded RNA, thereby detecting bacterial or viral nucleic acids (3, 4, 5, 6).
