Other Transcription Factors
This group consists of transcription factors that have a variety of DNA-binding domains and perform diverse functions. The E2F family of transcription factors is critical for entry into and progression through the cell cycle. The AP-2 and LIM families, DACH2 and MEF2C are all transcription factors involved in the regulation of many developmental processes. AIRE and DIDO1 are PHD zinc finger transcription factors that regulate immunity and apoptosis. HNF4 transcription factors contain a Cys4 zinc finger and mutations in HNF4 cause maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY). Finally, PREB and TFCP2L1 regulate prolactin and p450scc expression, respectively.
