Overview

The Golgi apparatus receives lumenal and membrane-associated materials from the endoplasmic reticulum. It contains enzymes for the post-translational addition and modification of macromolecules, such as carbohydrates and lipids. The trans Golgi (the region farthest from the nucleus) releases membrane-bound vesicles which transport molecules to other organelles or the plasma membrane for secretion.

Data Examples

Golgi Glycoprotein 1/GLG1 in PC-12 Rat Cell Line. Golgi Glycoprotein 1/GLG1 was detected in immersion fixed PC-12 rat adrenal pheochromocytoma cell line using Sheep Anti-Human/Mouse/Rat Golgi Glycoprotein 1/GLG1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF7879) at 1.7 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights 557-conjugated Anti-Sheep IgG Secondary Antibody (red; Catalog # NL010) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to the Golgi complex. View our protocol for Fluorescent ICC Staining of Cells on Coverslips.
GM130/GOLGA2 in HeLa Human Cell Line. GM130/GOLGA2 was detected in immersion fixed HeLa human cervical epithelial carcinoma cell line using Sheep Anti-Human GM130/GOLGA2 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF8199) at 1.7 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights 557-conjugated Anti-Sheep IgG Secondary Antibody (red; Catalog # NL010) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to Golgi apparatus vesicles. View our protocol for Fluorescent ICC Staining of Cells on Coverslips.
Syntaxin 6 in HeLa Human Cell Line. Syntaxin 6 was detected in formaldehyde fixed HeLa human cervical epithelial carcinoma cell line using Sheep Anti-Human Syntaxin 6 Biotinylated Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # BAF5664) at 15 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights 557-conjugated Streptavidin (red; Catalog # NL999) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to Golgi bodies.
