Se-NADA
Chemical Name: 3-((7-Nitro-2,1,3-benzoselenadiazol-4-yl)amino)-D-alanine hydrochloride
Purity: ≥95%
Biological Activity
Se-NADA is an orange fluorescent benzoselenadiazole D-amino acid (FDAA) for imaging bacteria. It is covalently incorporated into peptidoglycans in the cell walls of live bacteria. It also acts as a photosensitizer, bringing about bacterial cell death on exposure to visible light. Se-NADA is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Ex/Em = 470/590 nm.Scientific Data
Application of Se-NADA in B subtilis bacteria cells. Fluorescence microscopy image of B subtilis bacterial cells treated with SeNADA (250 μM, red) proving incorporation of the D-amino acid into the peptidoglycans of the cell wall.
