Earle’s Balanced Salt Solution (EBSS)

Earle’s Balanced Salt Solution (EBSS) is designed for the short-term maintenance of cells in a CO² environment, including cell washing, dissociation, counting and transportation. In addition to a balanced ionic salt composition and physiological pH, EBSS contains inorganic salts and carbohydrates as additional energy sources for mammalian cells in culture. Hanks’ Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) is designed for the short-term maintenance of cells in a non-CO² environment, including cell washing, dissociation, counting, and transportation. HBSS provides an enhanced physiological environment including pH, a balanced salt composition for proper osmoregulation, and inorganic salts and carbohydrates as additional energy sources for mammalian cells in culture.
