Scientific Data
Detection of Human Akt3 by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of DU145 human prostate carcinoma cell line and MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 0.5 µg/mL of Human Akt3 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB1463) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF007). A specific band was detected for Akt3 at approximately 60 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 3.

Background: Akt3
Akt3 (v-akt murine thymoma viral oncogene homolog 3), also known as protein kinase B gamma (PKB gamma ) and RAC-gamma serine/threonine kinase (RAC-PK-gamma ), is a member of the Akt family that also includes Akt1 (PKB alpha ) and Akt2 (PKB beta ). These highly homologous kinases are central in such diverse cellular processes as glucose uptake, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. All three Akts contain an amino-terminal pleckstrin homology domain, a central kinase domain, and a carboxyl-terminal regulatory domain.
