Scientific Data
CGRP in Human Dorsal Root Ganglion. CGRP was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human dorsal root ganglion using Rabbit Anti-Human CGRP Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB83503) at 3 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Rabbit IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (VC003). Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (CTS013). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm. View our protocol for IHC Staining with VisUCyte HRP Polymer Detection Reagents.
Detection of Human CGRP by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of TT human medullary thyroid cancer cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 0.5 µg/mL of Rabbit Anti-Human CGRP Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB83503) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Rabbit IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF008). A specific band was detected for CGRP at approximately 8 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Western Blot Buffer Group 1.
Detection of Human CGRP by Simple WesternTM. Simple Western lane view shows lysates of TT human medullary thyroid cancer cell line, loaded at 0.2 mg/mL. A specific band was detected for CGRP2 at approximately 3 kDa (as indicated) using 10 µg/mL of Rabbit Anti-Human CGRP Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB83503). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using the 2-40 kDa separation system.

Background: CGRP1
Calcitonin gene-related peptide or CGRP is a 37-amino acid neuropeptide formed by alternative splicing of the calcitonin/CGRP gene. CGRP is a member of the calcitonin family of peptides consisting of calcitonin, amylin, adrenomedullin, adrenomedullin 2 (intermedin) and calcitonin‑receptor‑stimulating peptide. CGRP is produced in both peripheral and central neurons and induces vasodilation of a variety of
vessels including the coronary, cerebral and systemic vasculature. Its
abundance in the CNS also points toward a neurotransmitter or
neuromodulator role.
