Detection of MS4A4A in HEK293 Human Cell Line Co-transfected with MS4A4A and eGFP by Flow Cytometry. HEK293 human embryonic kidney cell line co-transfected with human MS4A4A and eGFP was stained with either (A) Mouse IgG2B Isotype Control (Catalog # MAB0041) or (B) Mouse Anti-Human MS4A4A Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB7797) followed by Allophycocyanin-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # F0101B).

Background: MS4A4A

MS4A4A, also called CD20-like 1, is a 23 kDa (predicted) member of the MS4A family of four-transmembrane proteins that includes CD20 (MS4A1) and Fce RIb (MS4A2). MS4A4 cDNA is detected in hematopoietic cell lines, with highest expression in myeloid and B cell lines. Expressed sequence tags are detected in multiple organs and tissues. Human MS4A4A shares ~60% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat MS4A4A, if sequence gaps at the cytoplasmic N and C termini are disregarded. One potential isoform lacks aa 130-182, which includes the 3^rd transmembrane segment and the first of two extracellular regions.
