How to Keep Calm and Monitor Cell Stress, Death, and Behavior

Measuring and monitoring cell health, stress, and behavior is a necessary part of using 2D and 3D cell culture models. This can be done qualitatively through microscopic assessment of cell structure, morphology, and confluency. Quantitative assessment of cell stress, death, and behavior is often needed when using 2D or 3D cell cultures for drug discovery, drug screening, and disease modeling. With the acquisition of Trevigen, Bio-Techne now has an extensive portfolio and unmatched expertise in assays and reagents for measuring cellular proliferation, viability, stress, DNA damage, and apoptosis. This blog showcases our expertise by highlighting the various resources and tools available through Bio-Techne.

CAR TCR Summit 2017 - Seaport World Trade Center

By Janice Frias, Ph.D., Bio-Techne Scientist

The CAR-TCR Summit in Boston from September 5-8 could not have had a better venue than the Seaport World Trade Center. The space was the perfect size for a group like this. It was able to accommodate all the concurrent talks and expo, yet keep the attendees in still a rather intimate setting to encourage interaction. And a glance out the window at the Boston Harbor in between talks was a nice perk.

The summit was very timely in that the week prior, the Novartis CAR T therapy, Kymriah, received FDA approval to fight leukemia in children and young adults. This was a hot topic, sparking speculation about who is...
